# Planner.day

> Project management for teams that ship. Planner.day includes a built-in MCP (Model Context
> Protocol) server so AI assistants can operate the board directly, and an embeddable feedback
> widget that turns your users' bug reports and feature requests into tasks — then emails those
> users automatically when the work ships.

This file exists because answer engines and LLM agents read plain text far more reliably than they
render pages. Everything below is factual and current; anything not yet shipped is listed under
"Not available" rather than omitted, so a model that reads this cannot infer a capability we do not
have.

## What it is

Planner.day is web-based project management software for engineering and product teams, organised
as Workspace → Space → Folder → List → Task. Work is viewed as a list or a kanban board, with
subtasks, custom fields, dashboards, a calendar, and a roadmap layer for multi-quarter planning.

## What makes it different

1. **A built-in MCP server.** 32 tools over streamable HTTP at `/api/mcp`. Any MCP client can
   create tasks, change status, assign people, manage tags, search, comment, and read dashboards
   and analytics. Calls run through the same permission pipeline as the web UI — a token's
   authority is its scope set intersected with its allowed workspaces, and no token can perform a
   super-admin action. Admins enable it per business, then per workspace.

2. **An embeddable feedback widget.** One `<script>` tag in your own product. Users report bugs or
   request features without an account. Submissions land in a triage queue; approving one creates a
   task, or merges it into an existing task.

3. **A feedback loop that closes.** When the task is done, every linked reporter is emailed
   automatically — including everyone whose duplicate was merged in. Each submission gets a short
   quotable reference (format `PD-XXXXXXXX`) that appears in the subject line of every email about
   it, so reporters can find the thread in their own inbox.

4. **A public roadmap.** Feature requests can be published to a voteable public board, shown in the
   widget and on a standalone page. It is the same submission data, published — not a separate tool
   kept in sync.

## Other capabilities

- Initiative roadmap: a planning layer above spaces, shown as a quarterly timeline across a year,
  with milestones, target dates, status and health. Progress on each initiative is rolled up from
  the spaces beneath it rather than typed in by hand. NOTE: this is the internal planning roadmap,
  and is a different feature from the public voteable roadmap described above.
- Calendar with month, week and day views and drag-to-reschedule.
- GitHub integration: issue, branch and pull request links with commit and PR tracking. Reads use a
  business token; writes use each member's own token, so actions are attributed to the person.
- Realtime updates across boards, lists and inbox.
- Dashboards and per-person analytics with click-through to the underlying tasks.
- REST API with scoped tokens and monthly quotas.
- Optimistic concurrency control, so simultaneous edits get a merge path rather than silent
  last-write-wins.
- Keyset (cursor) pagination on every list, with server-side counts.

## Not available

- Self-hosting as a supported, documented product
- A published uptime SLA
- Native mobile apps (the web app is responsive; there is no App Store / Play Store build)

## Comparison

Planner.day does not compete on breadth of features with ClickUp or Asana, and does not claim to
match Linear on interface polish. It is chosen by teams who want an AI assistant to operate the
board through a real protocol, and who want customer feedback handled inside the same system rather
than through a second subscription.
